Board Meeting 2/9/24
The Board reviewed the 2024 Board Plan , with emphasis on the role of
14 Board members and 51 Alliance Advisors . The following officers were
nominated and approved for 2024.
President – Paula Gavin
Vice President- Andres Zapata
Treasurer – Tina Garyantes
Secretary – Gary Engelstad
Communications Officer – Christine Dickler
The Board reviewed status of our 5 Strategic Goals for 2024.
Membership , Small Business Success, Vibrant Main Street ,
Community Connections and Organization Impact .
The Board discussed strategies to grow membership to 260, a focus on
Main Street Improvements and new off season events, designed to boost
businesses .
The Board reviewed final 2023 Financials, a slight deficit funded
through reserves. Financials are posted on website. The Board discussed
2024 Financials- Budget and Funding.
The Board discussed pending 2024 Memorandum of Understanding and
potential requirements for BBBCA event permits and approvals. The Board
reviewed Borough Community Events plan for 2024.
Board Meeting 3/15/24
The Board reviewed our collaborative partnership with the Borough, Mayor
and Council, with a focus on our 2024 Events, Main Street and support of
Bradley Beach priorities as well as pending 2024 Memorandum of
Agreement.
The Board reviewed status of 5 Strategic Goals in 2024.
Membership Growth, Benefits and Involvement
Growth of 10 Members in 2024 to date or 240. Successful new
member event on 3/14 at UVA yielded pledge to join from four new
members. Strategies include outreach to new home buyers.
Small Business Success
Boost Bradley Beach - Winter Wonderland in February was successful
( ~ 600 participants at events and restaurants). March Lucky You
underway.
We will assess impact with our businesses.
Vibrant Main Street
Review of Main Street survey and recommendations to BB Borough
Council on 2/14. Agreement to support future actions with Mayor and
Council members.
Off season activities in February and March a priority. Super Heroes ,
Bradley Cinema and Wellness at the James Bradley very well received.
Plans for summer to begin.
Community Connections and Resident Engagement
Support of non profits reviewed.
New event Tour de Bradley 4/20 Bike Cruise reviewed. Very exciting .
Mission and Organization Impact
Financial status strong, with sponsorships received and pledged.
BBBCA will publish annual 2024 Community Events calendar, which we
compiled, on our website in March.
Board Meeting 4/19/24
The Board reviewed and discussed 2024 Borough Memorandum of
Agreement and 2024 Borough Resolution on 2024 Events, scheduled for
4/24/24 Council meeting.
The Board reviewed status of five 2024 Goals.
Membership Growth, Benefits and Involvement
Goal is 260, growth from 230 as of 12/31/23. Actual 245. Outreach
strategies include new home owners, event attendees and new Young
Professionals Network, launching on 5/23 with event at UVA.
Small Business Success
Boost Bradley Beach continues, and Business Liaisons are active
connecting with businesses. Networking sessions held on 3/30 and 4/9.
Vibrant Main Street
Main Street recommendations to be part of Mayor’s Main Street
TaskForce with Council, businesses and Alliance rep, Ed Mulligan.
Plans for summer reviewed, including efforts to connect Main Street
to Beach.
Community Connections
Update on support of non profits. New Teen Career Program
launched by BBBCA with Rec Center.
John Weber, Oceana , presented membership to the BBBCA for
the National Business Coalition for the Oceans and Business Alliance for
Protecting the Atlantic Ocean , 501c3’s. The Board approved.
Organization and Mission Impact
New BBBCA Facebook page launched, Celebrate Local.
Financials and funding update presented with positive status.
The BBBCA posted 2024 Community Events calendar on our
website, and Borough has home page link.
